Dilemma of Cosmic Proportions

Well, it's finally happened.

I've exceeded the capacity of my (actually DH's) IPod.

That's what I get for being stingy and only springing for the 30 GB when I bought it. What to do, what to do?

I suppose I could start culling out some of the crap, but, hey, I paid good money for this crap! LOL That's probably what I will do, actually - not deleting any of it, of course, even though my music directory is now taking up more than half of my hard drive.

Pleasant and Unpleasant Surprises at the Pool

Last day of school! So the kids are joyful and free...and I'm chained for the summer. *smirk*

Today was swim lesson registration. Usually registration day is the day after school lets out, but this year it fell on the last day of school - and this is because the school district had to make up for the horrendous number of snow days during last October's big storm (more to say about the storm in a later post).

Here's the thing - the time of the school day for the various schools of the district are staggered. Swim registration began at 11 AM. Rascal's dismissal time from school was 11:20 AM. Because we would be significantly late for the registration rush, I expected to find long lines at the pool. And I planned accordingly, packing lunch and all the other good stuff you need for a couple hours wait in the sun.

But I was wrong! I get to the pool, and there are only a couple people in line. Okay then! I'm not going to complain!

We go over to the kiddie pool to test and be assigned to the proper class. As Rascal is taking off his shoes, he mentions the tiny little wart he has on the bottom of his foot. Looks of alarm and dismay flash across the faces of the staff members. They won't let Rascal go in the pool because of this, and I'm a bit unhappy.

The pool supervisor explained the situation to me and requested that Rascal not come to lessons unless he has a doctor's note to confirm that he is not contagious. Apparently last year the pool had a big wart problem with the kids in the kiddie pool classes.

They were very nice about the whole thing, and I certainly understand the situation they are in. They let me sign the boys up anyway (well of course they're happy to take my money!), but I'm not thrilled that I'm going to have to make this special trip or two to the doctor and have to pay all the extra money associated with these trips to the doctor so that my kid can take the stupid lessons.

Rascal just *had* to say something, didn't he...

A Super-Mega-Ultra-Quick Intro to Me

Hi again, folks. Just a few quick snippets about me for those of you that don't know me already:

I'm Jennifer. I also happen to go by the pseudonyms of ShadowAngel, Cacophony, Lady Jen, The Mad Discombobulator, and, of course, The Slightly Mad Housewife. Most of the pseudonyms are college holdovers. My username here on Blogger is ShadowAngel not because I'm some freaky depressed goth chick (although I kind of was for a while) but because it was the first username that worked. *shrug* Whatever you want to call me is fine, including "stupid b**ch" and "a**hole". LOL

BTW, this blog will contain some adult content - no, not porn or any crap like that - but I say what I want here, and that may include the occasional bit of profanity or frank discussion. So, kiddies, you are warned!

What else... I'm 34 years old and live in a suburb of Buffalo, NY, USA. I'm a SAHM with two boys "Rascal" (7 years old) and "Zipper" (4 years old). I've been married for 11 years to former high school sweetie "Ironwolf". By and large we're a pretty darn happy family.

Other stuff: I've been studying Tae Kwon Do for 2 1/2 years, and I'm now a double black stripe belt. I'm scheduled to test for black belt in December. I like gaming (role-playing, board games, and the like - not so much gambling). I do a fair bit of stuff for my church - choir, handbell choir, church historian, personnel committee, liturgist, and vacation bible school. Wow, I *do* do a lot of church stuff, don't I?

That said, I'm not only not a depressed goth chick but also not a Jesus freak trying to proselytize to anyone here. Hey, believe whatever you want to believe - I'm cool with that! OK, *almost* anything you want to believe, but this isn't the time for that discussion.

Anyway, there's plenty of other things that I like and don't like, and plenty of time for you to find out what those things are. So once again, welcome to the blog. I hope to see you again soon!

Here We Go Again!

Welcome one and all (most likely one) to The Slightly Mad Housewife vs. The World!

This is my 3rd personal blog iteration here on Blogger, the first two being Musings of a Slightly Mad Housewife and The Slightly Mad Housewife Rides Again. Sadly, I abandoned both of those blogs - quite literally, in fact - just stopped posting to them, no warning.

Crap, I should probably apologize to my former readers again (although I suspect that most of them will remain former readers). Sorry, sorry, mea maxima culpa; I hope you didn't worry about me, etc. etc. etc.

I'm afraid it's time for me to pick up my little guy from his last day of Pre-K(!), so I'll have to hold off on the exposition for a bit. cyal8r
